Privacy Policy

CampusKit is built local-first on purpose. The short version: your academic data lives in a database file on your own device, and we never see it. We run no servers that store your data and require no account.

What the app stores, and where

Your courses, grades, schedule, deadlines, degree plan, settings and any content you import (such as syllabi) are stored in a local SQLite database on your computer. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use a feature that sends it somewhere (see below). Uninstalling CampusKit and deleting its data folder removes everything.

What leaves your device, and when

• AI features (Pro, optional). When you use the built-in AI chat, the messages you write and the course data needed to answer them are sent directly from your device to the AI provider you configured — Anthropic, OpenAI, or your ChatGPT account. This traffic goes straight to that provider under your key or account; it does not pass through any CampusKit server, because we don't operate any. The provider's own privacy policy applies to that traffic.
• MCP server (Pro, optional). If you enable the MCP server, AI clients you connect (for example Claude Desktop) can read your planner data through it. That connection is local to your machine; what a connected client then does with the data is governed by that client's policies.
• License validation. If you buy Pro, the app periodically sends your license key and a device label to Polar (our payments provider) to confirm the license is valid. No academic data is included.
• Update checks. The app checks GitHub for new releases. This is a standard HTTPS request and includes no personal data.

Payments

Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record. Polar collects the billing information needed to complete the sale (name, email, payment details, country) and shares with us only what we need to deliver your license — essentially your email and order details. See Polar's privacy policy.

This website

campuskit.app is a static site. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives the standard request metadata (such as your IP address) needed to serve the font files. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes request logs as any host does.

Your rights

Because your data stays on your device, you already control it: export, back up or delete the database file at any time. For anything payment-related (receipts, deletion of billing records), contact us or Polar directly.

Changes

If we ever change how CampusKit handles data, we will update this page and note it in the changelog before the change ships.
