CampusKit is a desktop app. There is no account to create and nothing to sign up for: download it, open it, and your data lives in a single file on your own computer.
Choose your installation option
Go to the download page. It detects your operating system and offers the matching installation option:
- macOS: a
.dmg. There are separate builds for Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and Intel. If you are not sure which Mac you have, open the Apple menu, choose About This Mac, and look at the Chip line. “Apple M…” means Apple Silicon. - Windows: CampusKit in the Microsoft Store.
The macOS installers are also listed on the GitHub releases page if you prefer to pick one by hand.
Install on macOS
- Open the
.dmgand drag CampusKit into your Applications folder. - Open CampusKit from Applications.
The macOS build is signed with an Apple Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so it opens without a warning. There is no Terminal step.
Versions before 0.4.1 were unsigned. If you still have one of those, the old
xattr -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/CampusKit.appline still works, or just install the current version over it. Your data is kept.
Install on Windows
- Open CampusKit in the Microsoft Store.
- Select Get or Install and follow the Store prompts.
- Open CampusKit from the Start menu.
Updates
On Windows, manage updates through the Microsoft Store. Open the Store and select Check for Updates. Microsoft’s Store update guide has the current steps.
On macOS, the app checks for a new version each time it starts and tells you when one exists. Nothing downloads until you say so. You can also check by hand in Settings, under General, in the Updates row.
Click Download in the notice or in Settings. When it is ready, a Restart to update button appears in the same row. Your data is not touched by updating.
On macOS, in-place updates start with the first signed version. An unsigned 0.4.0 or older cannot replace itself, so that one last time you install the new
.dmgby hand from the download page.
What happens to my data?
Everything you enter is stored in a SQLite database in your user profile. Installing from the Microsoft Store does not upload your planner database to us. The backups and export guide covers where the file is, how to make a backup, and how to move it to another computer.
If the Store installation fails
Open the CampusKit Store listing on your Windows computer and follow the Store prompts. If the Store cannot download or install the app, use Microsoft’s Store troubleshooting guide or email hello@campuskit.app.
Next step
Open the app. A short setup wizard walks you through your semester, AI and courses.
