Ask AI about your semester

The in-app chat reads your real courses, grades and schedule through tools, so it answers with your numbers. Here is how to set it up and what to ask.

Ask AI is a chat that sits on top of your actual data. When you ask about grades it calls the same grade engine the course page uses, so the answer is computed rather than invented.

Requirements

Set it up

  1. Open Settings, choose AI and scroll to Ask AI chat.
  2. Under Chat runs on, pick a provider or leave it on Automatic, which uses the first one available.
  3. Open Ask AI in the sidebar and type.

What to ask

Anything the app knows. Some prompts that work well:

  • “What’s due in the next 7 days?”
  • “What do I need on my finals to keep an A?”
  • “Which course am I doing worst in, and why?”
  • “When is my next chemistry lab and where?”
  • “How many hours did I study last week, by course?”
  • “Summarise my Tuesday.”

While it works, the chat shows which tool it is calling (for example get_schedule or get_grades), so you can see where a number came from.

Letting it change things

By default the chat is read-only: it can look but not touch. To let it add and edit on your behalf, open Settings, AI, and turn on Let chat change my data. Then prompts like these work:

  • “Add a problem set for calc due next Thursday, worth 5%.”
  • “Log 45 minutes of physics.”
  • “Mark the history essay as done with a 91.”
  • “Make ten flashcards from these notes: …”

The assistant confirms what it created, and everything it adds shows up in the normal pages where you can edit or delete it.

Privacy

Your question plus the results of any tools it calls are sent from your computer to the provider you chose. Nothing goes through a CampusKit server. If you would rather your grades not leave the machine, do not enable a provider, and the rest of the app works exactly the same.

If you already live in Claude Desktop, Cursor or a terminal, you can point those at CampusKit instead of using the built-in chat: connect MCP clients.
