CampusKit Cloud is an optional subscription. It keeps CampusKit in sync between your computers and takes a backup of your data every week. Each computer still keeps its own copy, so the app works offline exactly as before.
Cloud is separate from Pro. It does not unlock the AI chat or the MCP server, and Pro never needs Cloud. The iPhone app is on the way and will sync through Cloud too.
Turn it on
- Open Settings and choose Cloud, or click the cloud icon at the top of the window.
- Click Turn on Cloud, enter your email and click Send code.
- Type the six-digit code from the email and click Sign in. The code works for 10 minutes. If it does not arrive, check spam, then send a new one.
There is no password. Every computer signs in the same way, with the same email.
The first 14 days are free and need no card. Settings, Cloud shows how many days are left under Plan.
Your second computer
Install CampusKit on it and sign in with the same email. If that computer has no courses yet, it simply downloads everything. If it already has data, CampusKit asks what to do:
- Merge keeps both. A course you typed on both computers shows up twice, so delete one copy afterwards.
- Replace takes what is in the cloud. A backup of that computer’s old data is saved first under Settings, Data & backups, so nothing is lost.
The cloud icon
The icon at the top of the window tells you where things stand:
- Spinning: saving your latest changes.
- A check: everything is in the cloud. Hover to see when it last synced.
- Crossed out: you are offline. Keep working; changes go up when you reconnect.
- Amber: something needs you, such as signing in again or a plan that ended. Click it to see what.
Changes go up within seconds of making them. Your other computers pick them up when you open them, and about once a minute while you use them. Sync now in the panel does it on the spot.
When two computers edit the same thing
The newest edit wins. For notes and essays the other text is not thrown away: it is saved as a version labelled with the device and the time. Open the note’s History (or the essay’s versions) to see it and restore it.
Backups
Cloud takes a backup of everything you sync once a week, built on our servers, so your computer never uploads a big file. You can keep up to four backups:
- Back up now in the Backups part of the panel makes one on demand. It needs a free slot, so delete an old one first if you already have four.
- A new weekly backup replaces the oldest one.
- Restore puts your data back the way it was in that backup, on every computer. A safety backup of the current state is taken first, so a restore can itself be undone.
With Pro, the AI chat and connected MCP clients can list, make (with a label), delete and restore Cloud backups too, if you allow write access.
These are separate from the daily backups CampusKit keeps on your own disk (see backups and export). If you restore one of those while signed in to Cloud, the cloud is updated to match it.
What syncs
Your semesters, courses and meeting times, grades and assignments, notes and their versions, essays, the degree or graduation planner, applications, scholarships, activities, honors, service hours, tests, focus sessions, habits, to-dos and flashcards. A few settings travel too: your school level, GPA settings, target units and service hours, test scores for applications, the transcript profile and the focus timer lengths.
These stay on each computer: the theme and window layout, notifications, your AI keys, the MCP server settings and the Pro license. Pictures pasted into notes do not sync yet; the text of the note does.
Subscribe
When the trial ends, sync pauses until you subscribe. In Settings, Cloud, under Plan, choose $45 / year or $5 / month. Checkout opens in your browser through Polar, our merchant of record, with your Cloud email filled in. Subscribe from the app rather than a link elsewhere so the plan is tied to your Cloud account.
To change card details, see receipts or cancel, click Manage billing in the same place. Refunds within 14 days are covered by the refund policy.
If you stop
Nothing happens to the data on your computers. Sync and new backups pause, and the cloud copy and its backups are kept for 30 days in case you come back. We email you a week before they are deleted. Subscribe again within that time and everything picks up where it left off.
To delete everything in the cloud straight away, open the ⋯ menu in the Cloud panel and choose Delete cloud account. If you have an active subscription, cancel it under Manage billing first. Sign out in the same menu just stops syncing this computer; its data stays.
Privacy
With Cloud on, a copy of the data listed above is stored on our servers, run on Cloudflare, so your devices can sync. It is encrypted in storage but not end to end, and we do not look at it or use it for anything else. The privacy policy has the details.
