Adding an assignment should take five seconds or you stop doing it. CampusKit has three ways in, all keyboard-first.

Quick-add: ⌘N

Press ⌘N (Ctrl+N on Windows) anywhere in the app and type what you would say out loud:

  • hist essay next friday worth 15%
  • calc quiz tuesday 9am
  • cs project 2 due oct 14 high priority

With an AI key connected, the text is parsed into a prefilled assignment: course, title, type, due date and time, weight and priority. Check it and press Enter. Without a key the same shortcut opens the plain form, which is still quick to fill.

The course is matched against your current semester, so short names and codes both work.

Command palette: ⌘K

⌘K (Ctrl+K) opens the command palette. From it you can:

  • jump to any page (Courses, Calendar, Timetable, Focus…),
  • Quick add assignment,
  • Import syllabus,
  • Import .ics feed,
  • search your courses and assignments by name.

Start typing to filter, arrow keys to move, Enter to run.

Global hotkey: ⌘⇧N

⌘⇧N (Ctrl+Shift+N) opens quick-add even when CampusKit is in the background. Hear a due date in lecture, press the hotkey, type it, press Enter, back to the slides.

Assignment fields

Every assignment has a type (homework, quiz, exam, project, lab, essay, reading or event), a due date and time, a status, a priority, an optional category for grading, and a score once graded. The Assignments page lists everything in a table with filters by course and status.

Recurring assignments

For “quiz every Friday” or “reading response every Monday”:

  1. Open the assignment and tick Repeats weekly until.
  2. Pick the end date. It defaults to the end of your semester. The weekday comes from the due date you entered.

Each occurrence is its own assignment with its own score, so drop-lowest rules work across them. Editing one occurrence asks whether to change just this one or the whole series, and deleting works the same way.

Reminders

CampusKit can notify you the day before and the day of a due date. Turn those on in Settings, under Notifications; the timetable and notifications guide has the details.
