Track grades and "what do I need on the final"

Set up weighted categories and drop-lowest rules, enter scores, and see the exact score you need for the grade you want.

Every number CampusKit shows is computed from data you entered. There is no “current grade” field to type into: enter scores and the course average, term GPA and cumulative GPA update on the spot.

Set up the grading scheme

Open a course from the Courses page. The Categories section is where the syllabus weights live.

  1. Add a category for each part of the grade: for example Homework 30%, Midterms 40%, Final 30%. If you imported the syllabus, these are already there.
  2. For categories where the professor drops scores, set drop lowest to the number dropped (for example, drop the lowest 2 quizzes). CampusKit ignores those scores once enough assignments are graded.
  3. Courses without categories still work. Give each assignment its own weight instead and the app uses a direct-weight calculation.

Enter scores

Each assignment belongs to a category and has a score (as a percentage). Add scores either on the course page, where they can be edited inline in the assignment list, or by opening the assignment from Assignments or the Calendar.

Ungraded work is left out of the denominator. So after two homeworks and one midterm your current grade reflects only those three items, weighted by their categories, not the whole semester.

Letter grades and cutoffs

Each course has its own letter cutoffs. Click Cutoffs at the top of the course page to change them if a professor grades on a different scale (for example A at 92 instead of 93). Pass/fail courses can be marked as such and are excluded from GPA.

“What do I need?”

The What do I need? card on the course page answers the question everyone asks in week 12:

  1. Pick a target letter from the picker.
  2. The card shows the average you need on the remaining weight to end at that letter.

It also tells you when the answer is not a number:

  • Already locked: your graded work guarantees the target no matter what happens next.
  • Impossible: even a perfect score on everything left will not reach it. Time to look at the next letter down.

Because the calculation uses the same engine as the grade itself, changing a cutoff or a drop rule updates the answer instantly.

GPA

  • Term GPA and cumulative GPA appear on the dashboard and the Courses page, computed from letter grades and units on the standard 4.0 scale.
  • What-if on a course page lets you try a letter for that course and see the effect on your term GPA before the grade is final.
  • Archived semesters keep feeding cumulative GPA; see semesters and archiving.

Asking the AI instead

If you have Pro, the Ask AI chat reads grades through the same engine, so “what do I need on my finals to keep an A?” comes back computed, not guessed. See Ask AI chat.
